Cosmetic Acupuncture Adelaide

A natural, needle-based approach to glowing skin. Cosmetic acupuncture supports skin health from the inside out, without toxins, harsh products or invasive treatments.

Skin Healing, the Natural Way

Cosmetic acupuncture is a rejuvenating facial technique rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), where ultra-fine needles are gently inserted into the face and body to promote skin regeneration, stimulate collagen production, and improve overall complexion. It encourages circulation, supports lymphatic drainage, and addresses the deeper energetic imbalances that may be contributing to visible skin concerns.

This is a must have treatment to have in your routine if you have skin concerns or want a natural option to more invasive treatments like botox, this is all about restoring your skin’s vitality by working with the body’s own healing systems.

How does cosmetic acupuncture work?

It works on skin health through two key mechanisms:

The needling creates micro-trauma, triggering the body’s natural healing response. This stimulates increased collagen and elastin production, boosts blood flow, and brings vital fluids to the area to help repair and rejuvenate the skin.

Needles are typically inserted at muscular attachment points in the face, encouraging your muscles to contract and tone naturally. With consistent treatments, this leads to a more lifted appearance and firmer, tighter skin over time.

Each face is treated uniquely, targeting your specific areas of concern. Your underlying constitution is always considered, too. We use selected body points to support the flow of Qi (energy) and Blood to the face. Because skin health is often a reflection of internal health, sessions can also address gut issues, hormone balance, dehydration and stress.

To further enhance results, LED light therapy is included in treatments. This calming, non-invasive addition works to reduce inflammation, promote healing at a cellular level, and boost skin radiance, which complements cosmetic acupuncture perfectly.

How Cosmetic Acupuncture Differs from Facial and Standard Acupuncture

Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic Acupuncture is focused on skin health, tone, and natural rejuvenation. It targets fine lines, dullness, puffiness, and other visible signs of ageing by stimulating collagen production and improving circulation.

It uses finer needles and often includes skin-focused techniques like facial mapping, Gua Sha, LED therapy or jade rolling to enhance results—blending traditional methods with modern skin tools.

Facial Acupuncture

Facial Acupuncture is more therapeutic in nature, supporting concerns like TMJ, teeth grinding, jaw tension, Bell’s Palsy, and facial nerve imbalances.

Standard Acupuncture

Standard Acupuncture takes a full-body approach, addressing internal imbalances, chronic conditions, stress, digestion, hormones, and pain throughout the body—not just the face.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many sessions will I need?

This varies depending on your skin goals, age, and overall health. Most clients start with a course of 6–10 sessions to see noticeable results, followed by maintenance every 4–6 weeks.

How often do I need to do cosmetic acupuncture to see results?

We recommend starting with weekly or fortnightly treatments for the first 1–2 months. Results are cumulative, and consistency is key to achieving lasting skin benefits.

Does it hurt?

Cosmetic acupuncture is generally very comfortable. We use ultra-fine needles, much thinner than those used in traditional acupuncture. You may feel a slight ping or mild sensation in more sensitive areas (but it's brief and not considered painful). In fact, most clients find the experience deeply relaxing and often drift off during the session.

How long is the appointment?

Initial consultation: 70 minutes

Follow-up appointments: 55 minutes

Each session includes needling, skin prep and supportive techniques like gua sha, facial massage or LED light therapy.

What results can I expect from cosmetic acupuncture?

You may notice brighter, firmer, and more lifted skin after just a few sessions. Over time, it can help reduce fine lines, improve skin tone and texture, de-puff, and bring back your natural glow.

Is there any downtime?

There’s little to no downtime. You may experience minor redness at the needle sites which usually fades within an hour. You can return to your day straight after your appointment.

Is cosmetic acupuncture safe for all skin types?

Yes! It’s gentle and safe for most skin types, including sensitive skin. If you have active acne, eczema, or a history of skin reactions, your practitioner will tailor the treatment accordingly.

What age is best to start cosmetic acupuncture?

It’s never too early or too late. Many clients begin in their late 20s or early 30s as a preventative approach, but it’s equally effective for those wanting to soften deeper lines or restore luminosity in later years.

Can I combine cosmetic acupuncture with other skin treatments?

Yes, though it’s best to space out any invasive treatments (like injectables or peels). Cosmetic acupuncture pairs beautifully with holistic facials and LED therapy. Your practitioner can help design a skin plan that flows well with your existing routine.

Is this the same as getting injectables or fillers?

Not quite. Cosmetic acupuncture is a natural alternative that supports your skin’s own regenerative processes, without injecting substances or freezing muscles. It offers a more subtle, long-term improvement.
