CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive modality that seeks to find and treat restrictions throughout the body’s CranioSacral systems.

Restrictions within these systems can lead to tension patterns or affect the functioning of all bodily systems including the musculoskeletal, endocrine, cardio-respiratory, gastrointestinal, lymphatic, immune and reproductive systems.

Once the craniosacral system is free from restriction and the cerebrospinal fluid achieves an optimal flow, patients regain a freely moving brain, spinal cord, and fascial web and the body is better able to heal and balance itself.

Our bodies have a cool internal system of Fascia that surrounds and connects all structures of the body. Our Fascia surrounds everything (including the brain and spinal cord) and when things go wonky any kinks or misalignments in the Fascia can cause a disruption leading to pain and resticted movement and function. Because of this Fascia sometimes your original dysfunction may or may not be where you are experiencing your symptoms.  

Our aim is to work gently with your body, all while understanding the compensations it makes daily and bringing you back to feeling more like you.

What to expect at an appointment?

When you arrive for your appointment, your practitioner will have a short chat and you will then be invited to lie on the massage table face up. You’ll remain fully clothed during the treatment, so wear light, comfortable clothing to your appointment.

The practitioner will then gently lay their hands on you, typically starting at your head, feet, or near the middle of your body. Your practitioner will make light contact at selected points around the head, torso, pelvis, knees, and feet. This light contact consists of gentle finger pressure, with no bone manipulation or forceful thrusts. You will start to feel totally relaxed, go with it.

Remember, this is your time to allow yourself to connect with body and self. A time for a deeply relaxing experience and also to release holding patterns, realign the nervous system.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions you need will depend on each individual. When you discuss your goals with your massage therapist, you can come up with a plan based on your symptoms, injuries, and causes of your symptoms.
